Praseodymium Fluoride (PrF₃): Medical Scintillators, Laser Crystals, IR Fibers, Specialty Alloys

Praseodymium fluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula PdF₃, appearing as green powder with a density of 6.3 g/cm³. It has a melting point of 1395°C and boiling point above 2200°C. It is insoluble in water, difficult to dissolve in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid. The compound is hygroscopic in air and relatively stable.

Production Process
Purify chloride raw materials to separate other impurities, introduce carbon dioxide to form carbonate, then react with high-purity fluorine in special equipment to produce fluoride salt. Wash the reaction products with hot purified water and dry/dehydrate in vacuum oven. Adjust temperature to remove free fluorine. Introduce hydrogen to transform crystal phase and modify refractive index. Alternatively: purify chloride raw materials to separate other impurities, control concentration and temperature to add fluoride salt for precipitation reaction, generate fluoride salt slurry, wash with hot purified water to remove anions, dehydrate in vacuum oven, remove free fluorine, and introduce hydrogen to transform crystal phase and modify refractive index.
