Description

Neodymium Fluoride (NdF₃): Medical Scintillators, Laser Crystals, IR Fibers, Specialty Alloys

Neodymium fluoride is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula NdF3, appearing as purple powder with density 6.5 g/cm³. Melting point 1410°C, boiling point >2200°C. Insoluble in water, difficult to dissolve in hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid, but soluble in perchloric acid. Hygroscopic in air, relatively stable.

Applications

  1. Preparation of scintillators for modern medical imaging technology and nuclear science requirements.
  2. Rare earth crystal laser materials.
  3. Fluoride glass optical fibers and rare earth infrared glass.

About Neodymium Fluoride

Purify chloride raw materials to separate other impurities, introduce carbon dioxide to form carbonate, then react with high-purity fluorine in special equipment to generate fluoride. Wash the reaction product with hot purified water, dry and dehydrate in vacuum oven. Adjust temperature to remove free fluorine. Introduce hydrogen to transform crystal phase and change refractive index.
