The Yaskawa GA50UB010ABA is a GA500 variable frequency drive designed to operate from a 200 to 240 VAC single-phase input supply and control a compatible three-phase motor. It provides a Normal Duty rating of 3 HP or 2.2 kW with 9.6 A output current. Under Heavy Duty selection, it is rated for 2 HP or 1.5 kW with 8.0 A output current.
This configuration is useful where three-phase utility power is unavailable but the machine requires variable-speed operation of a three-phase motor. It must not be confused with GA50U2010ABA, which provides similar output ratings but requires a three-phase input supply.
GA50UB010ABA is positioned above GA50UB006ABA in the single-phase-input GA500 range. Its 9.6 A Normal Duty rating supports moderate-overload applications at the 3 HP level, while the 8 A Heavy Duty rating applies to more demanding 2 HP machinery.
Motor horsepower alone is insufficient for selection. Compare the motor full-load current with the correct duty rating and review starting torque, acceleration time, load inertia and stopping frequency. The upstream single-phase circuit must also have adequate capacity for the drive input demand.
The GA500 platform offers V/f and open-loop vector control for induction motors and control capability for compatible permanent-magnet motors. Open-loop vector control can improve torque production and speed stability without encoder feedback when motor information and tuning are correct.
The drive output is intended for a compatible three-phase motor, not a single-phase capacitor-start motor. Enter motor voltage, current, frequency, speed and power from the actual motor nameplate. Autotuning should be completed in accordance with the selected motor and control method.
Configurable digital and analog terminals support run commands, direction selection, external frequency references, interlocks and operating-status feedback. Embedded RS-485 supports MEMOBUS/Modbus RTU. EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT and other industrial networks require compatible optional communication equipment.
The GA500 Safe Torque Off circuit is rated SIL3 under IEC 62061 and PLe under ISO 13849-1 when properly incorporated into a validated safety system. STO prevents motor torque but does not isolate the drive from the incoming single-phase power supply.

Typical uses include small conveyors, workshop machinery, pumps, fans, packaging equipment, mixers and auxiliary automation systems. For single-phase installations, check the available branch-circuit capacity, voltage stability and upstream protection. The drive input current should be used when sizing the supply circuit.
The built-in braking transistor supports a separately selected external braking resistor. The resistor value and thermal capacity must match the braking energy and duty cycle. It is not included within the standard IP20 drive.
Install the unit in a suitable control cabinet with adequate ventilation and protection from conductive contamination. Observe applicable derating requirements for temperature, altitude, carrier frequency and mounting arrangement. Separate power cables from low-level control and communication wiring and apply correct grounding practices.
During commissioning, confirm motor rotation, frequency limits, acceleration and deceleration time, fault behavior, STO operation and controller commands before connecting the machine to normal production.
GA50UB006ABA provides 6 A Normal Duty and 5 A Heavy Duty output. GA50UB012ABA provides 12.2 A Normal Duty and 11 A Heavy Duty output. GA50U2010ABA has similar output ratings but uses a three-phase input supply.
