Cold impact test apparatus is designed according to IEC60811-1-4 clause 8.5 & figure 2, ISO6722-1 clause 5.11 (cold impact) and ISO 19642-2 clause 5.5.8 & figure 11. The cold impact test is intended to verify that the cable can withstand impact at low temperature without cracking and still maintain insulation properties. The apparatus for impact test at a low temperature should work with freezing chamber and it should be placed on a 40mm thick sponge rubber pad.
This apparatus is to perform an impact test from a height of of 100mm with a falling weight to power cables, automative cables, flexible cables and cords with PVC insulation and sheaths at a low temperature. After the test, no cracks of the insulating sheaths shall be visible with normal or corrected vision without addition magnification.
