Scrape Abrasion Test Apparatus with a 0.45mm abrasion Needle for Testing Automative Cables Compliant to ISO6722-1 and ISO19642-2

  1. Introduction

Scrape abrasion test apparatus is a a specialized device used to test the abrasion resistance of automotive cables, compliant to standards ISO6722-1 clause 5.12.4.2 and figure 7,ISO 19642-2 clause 5.3.2.5 and figure 4, DIN72551-5, QC/T-730, JASO D611-94 and VW60306.

The scrape abrasion test apparatus consisted a device to abrade the surface of the insulation of the test sample and a counter to record the numbers of cycles to failure. The needle abrades through the insulation and makes contact with the conductor, the apparatus will stop automatically. Scrape the sample at a certain speed until the sample cracks or breaks, and record the number of cycles to failure; or apply a certain vertical force to scrape the sample in a fixed cycles and then observe whether the sample has cracks or breakage.
