The B&R 8V1180.00-2 is a high-capacity ACOPOS servo drive for demanding industrial motion-control applications. It operates from a three-phase 400 to 480 VAC mains supply and provides 19 A continuous motor current, 50 A peak current and a nominal motor power rating of 9 kW.

The drive integrates the power stage, line filter, braking functions, DC-bus power supply and electronic restart inhibit in a cabinet-mounted unit. Its modular interface design supports different encoder, communication and I/O configurations through four ACOPOS plug-in module slots.

Compatible System and Applications

The 8V1180.00-2 is intended for ACOPOS motion systems using suitable B&R controllers, servo motors, feedback devices and communication modules. Typical applications include packaging lines, printing machinery, plastics-processing equipment, automated handling systems, converting machinery and higher-power production axes.

The four plug-in positions can support different communication, encoder and I/O modules. The installed module numbers must be recorded from the original drive because they are not defined by the base-drive number.

Maintenance and Replacement Notes

Confirm the complete model 8V1180.00-2, hardware revision, plug-in module arrangement, motor model, encoder interface, braking-resistor configuration and controller project. The ACOPOS 1180 family name alone is insufficient for exact replacement.

Back up the Automation Studio project and drive parameters before removing the existing unit. Motor data, current limits, communication settings, encoder parameters and safety-related functions must be validated during commissioning.

Related ACOPOS drive sizes include 8V1090.00-2, 8V1180.00-2 and 8V1320.00-2. Different sizes are not automatically interchangeable because current capacity, dimensions, wiring, protection devices and project parameters differ.
