Chromic Acid Anodizing System Overview:

  • Process: Uses chromic acid electrolyte at low voltage (40V).
  • Characteristics:
    • Oxide Layer Thickness: 1–5 microns, thin and flexible.
    • Surface Finish: Light gray, non-porous, and less prone to cracking.
    • Corrosion Resistance: Moderate, but excels in fatigue resistance.
    • Applications: Aircraft skins, rivets, and parts requiring stress resistance.
  • Advantages: Reduces hydrogen embrittlement; suitable for welded or stressed components.
