Bulwark-Mounted Single Point Mooring Pipe | JIS F 2030 Type B Cast Steel
Product Overview
The single point mooring pipe is a large cast steel fitting installed in a vessel’s bulwark to guide chains or large-diameter ropes during single point mooring. Also called a single point mooring chock, it provides a closed passage with curved contact surfaces at the ship’s structural opening.
JIS F 2030 Type B has an inclined oblong form for bulwarks with an inclination greater than 20°. It is selected for the specified mooring arrangement, including ship-bow installations, with attention to chain or rope clearance, contact geometry and the welded hull interface.
Quick Specifications
Main Technical Parameters
Dimensions are in mm. Symbols follow JIS F 2030:1978, Fig. 2. The nominal size equals dimension L; calculated mass excludes separate hull reinforcement.

These are reference diameters, not load ratings. Confirm full chain-link dimensions, connecting hardware clearance and the selected rope manufacturer’s bending/contact requirements. Required fitting loads, load directions and any test loads are established for the project; they cannot be derived from diameter alone.
Selection & Inquiry Guide
Structure
Cast steel body | Inclined oblong passage | Curved chain/rope contact surfaces | Bulwark connection zone
Casting, Rope Guidance & Installation Advantages
How It Works
Chain or rope enters the passage → Curved surfaces guide its path → Contact reactions pass through the cast body and welded connection → The supporting hull structure carries these reactions
Applications
Vessel single point mooring arrangements | Tanker bow installations where specified | Newbuilding bulwark fittings | Replacement of specified Type B mooring pipes
Certifications & Advantages
Material records, dimensional reports, additional NDT and classification-society inspection can be specified in the order. Product certification, witnessed inspection and manufacturer’s test documentation have different ; the agreed scope governs delivery.
Certification options according to project requirement and subject to class approval: CCS, NK, BV, ABS, DNV, LR, KR, IRS, RS, RINA, CRS, or Makers Test Certificate.

FAQ
Q1: Is a Type B pipe interchangeable with Type A?
A1: Type A is intended for bulwark inclinations up to and including 20°. Matching nominal size does not establish interchangeability: the form, interface and passage orientation must match the installation drawing.
Q2: Does the mooring pipe also secure the chafing chain?
A2: It guides the chain through the bulwark. Where chain retention is required, a separately selected SPM chain stopper provides the holding function. Verify their alignment and compatibility as an assembly.
Q3: What should be checked during service?
A3: Inspect contact surfaces for grooves and sharp damage, and check the body, welds and adjacent structure for cracking, corrosion or distortion. Use the vessel’s inspection plan and rope manufacturer’s guidance to set inspection frequency and corrective action.ty, bow installation drawing, reinforcement requirement, certificate scope, delivery destination, and required delivery time.
