13-32mm Compact Steel Wire Rope Reel without Handle | Drum-Grip Wire Rope Storage on Ship Deck
Product Overview
Type AW steel wire rope reel is designed for compact marine steel wire rope storage where a projecting handle is not required.
The no-handle design keeps the reel profile simple and compact. Operators rotate the reel by gripping the outer drum rim, making it suitable for limited deck space and low-frequency operation.
Compared with handle-operated Type A reels, Type AW reduces protruding parts and provides a simpler structure for storage-oriented applications.
The reel is used for storage only, not for lifting or pulling. It is suitable for 13 mm to 32 mm steel wire ropes with storage length from 120 m to 190 m.
A bolted base, lubricated bearing arrangement, optional brake or locking pin, and smooth free-edge finishing support safe storage and easier onboard arrangement.

Selection Guide
Step 1 - Confirm wire rope diameter -> Select AW13, AW17, AW21, AW26 or AW32 according to rope size
Step 2 - Confirm compact deck requirement -> Select AW when a projecting handle is not preferred
Step 3 - Confirm operation method -> Operators rotate by gripping the outer drum rim
Step 4 - Confirm storage length -> Match drum capacity from 120 m to 190 m
Step 5 - Confirm brake or locking requirement -> Recommended for safe storage and stable onboard condition
Step 6 - Confirm base fixing and coating -> Bolted base and coating system according to ship deck arrangement
Step 7 - Confirm certificate requirement -> Maker’s Test Certificate or class certificate according to project demand

Inquiry Guide
Please provide wire rope diameter, rope length, compact-space requirement, brake or locking requirement, base fixing arrangement, material, surface treatment and certification requirement.
Not sure about the correct reel size? Send us the rope diameter and storage length, and we will recommend a suitable reel configuration.
How It Works
The steel wire rope is wound onto the drum for storage. Operators rotate the reel by gripping the outer drum rim, while the bearing arrangement supports smooth movement. The foot brake or locking pin secures the reel when the rope is stored or when the reel is not in operation.
Applications
Compact ship deck wire rope storage | Limited deck space | Spare mooring wire storage | Vessel outfitting | Workshop rope storage

FAQ
Q1: Why choose AW no-handle reel?
A: AW type is suitable when compact structure and fewer projecting parts are preferred for storage-oriented applications.
Q2: How is the reel operated without a handle?
A: Operators rotate the reel by gripping the outer drum rim. The lubricated bearing arrangement supports smooth rotation.
Q3: Is AW type better for limited deck space?
A: Yes. The no-handle design reduces protruding parts and is easier to arrange in compact storage areas.
Q4: Is this reel used for lifting or pulling?
A: No. It is a storage reel for steel wire rope, not a lifting winch or towing winch.
Q5: Can the surface treatment be customized?
A: Yes. Hot-dip galvanizing, Sa2.5 blasting plus epoxy coating, polished stainless steel and customized coating are available.
