BS 5852 EN 597 Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester
Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester Introduction:
The ignition resistance tester for mattresses and sofas is developed and manufactured according to "GB/T 17927-2011 Upholstered Furniture - Evaluation of Ignition Resistance Characteristics of Mattresses and Sofas".
This equipment simulates cigarettes and matches as ignition sources to test and evaluate the ignition resistance characteristics of upholstered furniture.
This section applies to the testing and evaluation of the ignition resistance characteristics of mattresses, sofas, and other upholstered furniture used in public places.
Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester standard:
*GB/T 17927 Upholstered furniture – Evaluation of ignition resistance properties of mattresses and sofas
*ISO 8191-1~2
*EN 597-1~2
*BS 5852
Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester Specification:
Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester Feature:
Test Chamber and Sample Holder Section:
1. The combustion chamber is 3000mm long, 3000mm wide, and 2700mm high.
2. The chamber is made of fire-resistant and heat-resistant color steel rock wool board.
3. A ventilation opening and exhaust fan are provided on one side of the chamber; external exhaust duct connected.
4. A sealed glass window is provided on one side of the chamber; aesthetically pleasing and convenient for external observation of the test.
5. An enlarged door allows easy access for mattresses and sofas.
6. An explosion-proof lamp is provided inside the chamber for illumination.
7. The sample holder slot is made of stainless steel plate, corrosion-resistant; dimensions are 2200mm x 2000mm x 100mm.
8. The holder slot can collect water used for fire extinguishing and combustion residue; it is designed with a drain outlet to prevent contamination of the test chamber floor.
9. A stainless steel bracket is used to support the holder slot; height is 30mm.
Gas Control System:
1. Independent gas control cabinet;
2. Stainless steel cooling water tank; built-in stainless steel gas pipes; ensuring gas temperature within the pipeline is 20℃, ensuring more accurate gas flow (optional);
3. Imported gas flow meter accurately displays gas flow rate (42 ± 2) ml/min;
4. Imported needle valve accurately controls gas flow rate;
5. Burner stainless steel machining: outer diameter 8mm ± 0.1mm, inner diameter 6.5mm ± 0.1mm, length 200 ± 5mm;
6. Burner angle adjustable horizontally and vertically;
7. Gas output pressure 2.8 kPa;
8. Timer accuracy 1s;
9. Tests are conducted in an environment with a temperature of 10.0℃~30.0℃ and a relative humidity of 15.0%~80%.

Mattress and Sofa Fire Retardant Tester Performance Parameters:
Timing range: 0-999 seconds; displays and records afterflame or smoldering time, fabric cracking time, and specimen extinguishing time.
Igniter test distance: Adjustable from 20-80 mm; features automatic movement and retraction of the ignition mechanism.
Flow rate measurement range: 10~100 mL/min
Ignition source system: Stainless steel combustion tube, one tube with an inner diameter of (8±0.1 mm) and an inner diameter of (6.5±0.1 mm), and a length of (200±5 mm); two sets are available.
Hose: Length should be (2.5~3 mm), inner diameter should be (7±1 mm); connects to the stainless steel combustion tube.
Flow control system: Includes a flow meter, fine-tuning valve, on/off valve, and pressure regulating valve.
The system provides a nominal output pressure of 2.8 kPa for a flow rate of (45±2) m1/min.
The cigarettes must be cylindrical, with or without filters and interfaces, and meet the following requirements:
Observation window: One large tempered glass observation window, surrounded by SUS304 stainless steel edging.
Computer control system (test time, number of tests, flame delay time, etc. can all be set and recorded in the computer. It features high intelligence, guided menu operation, and is simple and intuitive, making test results more accurate.)
Automatic ignition function (high-voltage electronic ignition).
Using PLC, all components are of high quality, ensuring high-quality, high-speed operation and advanced technology. The test process uses imported PLC PID fully automatic control, which is the most advanced, safest, most reliable, and most convenient control method available today. It achieves automatic detection and control, automatically completes the testing work, and features a user-friendly display interface, making the testing work faster and more accurate. The host computer uses configuration software design, which can automatically generate temperature control curves and report outputs, data acquisition, and printing of test results.
