Product Description
ASME SA423 Grade 1 Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) tube is a low-alloy steel tube manufactured using the electric resistance welding process. This specification covers low-alloy steel tubes designed for high-temperature and high-pressure service, particularly in boilers and heat exchangers, with excellent resistance to atmospheric corrosion.

Standards & Specifications
- ASME SA423: Standard specification for seamless and welded low-alloy steel tubes for boilers and superheaters
- Grade 1: Optimized for high-temperature service applications
- Complies with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) Section II for material properties
Testing & Inspection
- Hydrostatic testing, ultrasonic testing (UT), or eddy current testing to ensure weld integrity
- Chemical and mechanical property verification per ASTM/ASME standards
Key Advantages
- Cost-Effective: More economical than seamless tubes while maintaining high strength and durability
- High-Temperature Resistance: Chromium-molybdenum (Cr-Mo) alloy provides excellent creep resistance up to 450°C (850°F)
- Good Weldability: ERW process ensures strong, uniform welds without filler metals
- Consistent Quality: Precise dimensional control for reliable performance in pressure applications
- Corrosion Resistance: Resists oxidation and scaling in steam/high-heat environments
- ASME Compliance: Meets strict Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code standards for safety
Primary Applications
- Power Generation: Boiler tubes in thermal power plants, superheaters & reheaters, heat exchangers & condensers
- Oil & Gas / Petrochemical: Refinery heat exchangers, high-temperature pipelines, furnace components
- Industrial Process Equipment: Chemical processing units, pressure vessels, thermal fluid systems
- District Heating Systems: Hot water supply pipelines, steam distribution networks
