A: One sign is the engine overheating more often, especially when driving slowly. Another sign is the fan spinning very freely by hand (even when the engine is hot)—normal mechanical clutches have slight drag when hot. Also, if you see oil stains around the clutch housing, that’s a sign of leakage, meaning silicone oil is running out.

A: No, coolant brand doesn’t directly affect the fan clutch.
