A robot base plate is the datum the whole arm is built from. If the mounting face is not flat, or the anchor hole pattern is not square, every axis above it inherits the error. We machine base plates from 6061-T6 plate, hold the top face flat within 0.02 mm after release from the fixture, and position the anchor and dowel holes within ±0.01 mm of each other.
Because the plate is large and thin relative to its footprint, clamping distortion rather than cutter accuracy is what usually ruins it. We machine it on a stress-relieved blank with support under the full footprint, then check flatness again after the clamps come off.
A base plate can pass every single dimension and still be unusable if flatness is measured while it is still clamped. We measure after release, on a surface plate, with the plate resting on three points. Hole position is verified as a pattern against the datum edges, and dowel holes are checked for size and roundness with a bore gauge as well as the CMM.
Inspection data is filed per serial or per batch, so if a customer later finds a mounting issue we can trace the exact measurement that was recorded before shipment.

Send the plate drawing with the anchor pattern and load - we will confirm flatness strategy, price and lead time.
