Product Overview

C12-14 Alcohol Ethoxylate 5EO (AEO-5) is a nonionic surfactant synthesized from fatty alcohol and 5 mol of ethylene oxide. It appears as a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid at room temperature with an HLB value of approximately 10-11.

This product is insoluble in cold water but soluble in alcohols, mineral oils, and organic solvents. It can be dispersed in hot water and demonstrates resistance to hard water, weak acids, and alkalis. AEO-5 can be compounded with various ionic surfactants and possesses excellent water-in-oil emulsification, wetting, penetration, and degreasing properties.

Applications

AEO-5 is readily soluble in oils and polar solvents, diffuses in water, and possesses excellent emulsifying properties. It is used as a w/o type emulsifier for emulsifying mineral oils and aliphatic solvents, as a viscosity reducer for PVC plastisols, and is widely used in chemical fiber oils.

Common applications include metal degreasing and cleaning agents, cutting fluids, industrial oil emulsification, textile pretreatment degreasing agents, and pesticide emulsifiable concentrate systems.
