Oat β-Glucan – Functional Dietary Fiber for Cardiovascular Health Applications
Oat β-Glucan is a functional soluble dietary fiber polysaccharide extracted from selected oat bran through controlled purification and separation technology. It is suitable for use in food systems where both nutritional enrichment and texture optimization are required.
In food formulations, oat β-glucan contributes to the structural behavior of complex systems by interacting with water and other macromolecules. It can influence viscosity, moisture retention, and product matrix formation, making it suitable for foods where texture stability and mouthfeel improvement are important.
Oat β-glucan is also associated with cholesterol-lowering effects. By helping reduce blood cholesterol levels, it may contribute to the maintenance of cardiovascular health, as elevated cholesterol is recognized as an important risk factor associated with coronary heart disease.
Unlike conventional food additives, this product is approved as a new food raw material (Announcement No. 20 of 2014), positioning it as a clean-label functional ingredient rather than a chemical additive.

Oat β-Glucan is typically incorporated during hydration or mixing stages depending on system design. It hydrates gradually and interacts with water phase components, making it suitable for controlling viscosity and improving structural uniformity in finished products.
