EN10305-2 E235 E355 Welded Cold Drawn Carbon Steel Tube
With high dimension accuracy and fine surface quality, cold drawn precision steel tubing is suitable for hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Besides seamless cold drawn tubes, welded cold drawn tubes are also used for cylinders with smooth surfaces. BS EN 10305, a series of steel tube specifications for precision applications, includes 10305-2 grade E235 which is an ideal material for barrels and cylinders.

BS EN 10305-2 E235 Surface Condition
A roughness value of Ra < 0,8 μm applies to the inside surface, in compliance with ISO 4287 and ISO 4288. For the outside surface, EN 10305-2 is applicable.
BS EN 10305-2 E235 Straightness
Tubes for hydraulic and pneumatic applications are specially straightened with regard to the intended application. For tubes with an outside diameter D > 15 mm supplied in lengths greater than 1,000 mm, the deviation from straightness of any tube length L shall not exceed:
- 0,0015 L for ReH ≤ 500 MPa
- 0,002 L for ReH > 500 MPa
Manufacturing Capabilities
SHEW-E STEEL manufactures a wide range of cold drawn welded pipe products with excellent quality and services for tube-related solutions. We offer specially precision steel tubes with outside diameters from 50 to 380 mm and wall thicknesses up to 25 mm to suit a wide range of applications.
Production Method
The cold drawn welded tube is produced by drawing ERW (electric resistance welded tube). During this process, the sizing (wall thickness, inside and outside diameter), as well as weld integrity and surface finish, is closely controlled to produce tube of the required size and mechanical property characteristics.

Delivery Conditions
- +C: No heat treatment after the final cold drawing process
- +LC: After the final heat treatment there is a suitable drawing pass
- +SR: After the final cold drawing process there is a stress relieve heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere
- +A: After the final cold drawing process the tubes are annealed in a controlled atmosphere
- +N: After the final cold drawing operation the tubes are normalized in a controlled atmosphere
Advantages (Compared with Seamless Cold Drawn Tube)
- Better shape
- Improved quality surface
- Tight eccentricity and wall thickness tolerances
- Tube more safety
- Good toughness at low temperature
- USA Market: 90% of the cylinders in the USA market are produced with welded tubes
- Cost: Fixed lengths more cheaper
Company Advantages
