Excellent Creep Resistance Flexibility Coated SBR Or PVC Uniaxial Woven Polyester Geogrid Reinforced Soil Walls
Overview of Uniaxial Woven Polyester Geogrid:
What is a Uniaxial Woven Polyester Geogrid?
It is a high-strength, synthetic polymer grid material, manufactured by weaving high-tenacity
polyester yarns in a specific pattern. The key term "uniaxial" means its tensile strength is
primarily oriented in a single direction (along the machine direction or roll length).
This makes it ideal for applications where the primary tensile forces are expected from one direction.
How is Uniaxial Woven Polyester Made? (Manufacturing Process)
Weaving: High-tenacity polyester yarns are woven on a specialized loom into a grid-like structure
with large open apertures (typically rectangular or elliptical).
Pre-Coating: The woven grid is passed through a bath to apply a preliminary coating.
This locks the yarn crossover points and protects the fibers.
Primary Coating (or Impregnation): This is the most critical step. The grid is immersed in a polymer
dispersion (like PVC, latex, or a modified compound) and then passed through a calendering process.
This fully encapsulates the polyester yarns, bonding them together at the junctions and providing
crucial protection against mechanical damage and environmental degradation (like hydrolysis and chemical attack).
Curing & Finishing:
The coated grid is passed through an oven to cure and solidify the coating. It is then wound onto rolls for shipment.

Polyester Geogrids Application :
The Knitted BX PET Polyester Geogrid is a versatile workhorse used in many of the applications we've already discussed:
Road and Highway Base Reinforcement:
Placed on the subgrade before the aggregate base course is laid.
It confines the aggregate, reduces rutting, and allows for a thinner base layer, leading to significant cost savings.
Railway Track Bed Stabilization:
Placed between the subgrade and the ballast layer.
It prevents the ballast from penetrating the soft subsoil and the subsoil from pumping up into the ballast,
maintaining track geometry and reducing maintenance.
Foundation Mattresses for Embankments:
Used to build stable embankments over very soft soils by distributing the load over a wider area.
Soil Stabilization for Working Platforms:
Creates a stable platform for construction equipment on sites with weak soils.
Note on Retaining Walls: While exceptionally strong, a standard biaxial (BX) geogrid is often used for
stabilization. For the highest, most critical retaining walls, a uniaxial geogrid (which concentrates strength
primarily in one, longitudinal direction) is often preferred, as that is the direction of the tensile forces
in an MSE wall. However, BX grids are still successfully used in many wall applications.

Yixing Shenzhou Geosynthetics Polyester Geogrid Design and Construction Workflow:
Site & Soil Analysis: Geotechnical engineers analyze the soil conditions, loads, and required wall height.
Design: Engineers specify the geogrid type (polyester), its strength, length, and vertical spacing between layers.
The length is crucial for creating a stable reinforced zone.
Construction:
A leveling pad is prepared.
The first layer of wall facing units is placed.
A layer of select backfill is placed and compacted.
The polyester geogrid is rolled out over the compacted soil and connected to the wall face.
The process repeats: backfill, compact, place geogrid, until the top is reached.
