Service Life for Polypropylene Nonwoven Geotextile:
The service life of polypropylene geotextiles is significantly affected by the environment. The core conclusion is: 5-10 years in normal environments, extended to 15-20 years with proper protection (such as burial in the ground and protection from sunlight). Exposure to sunlight only lasts 1-3 years.
Key Influencing Factors: UV Light: Polypropylene is sensitive to UV rays. When exposed to sunlight without protection, UV rays accelerate fiber aging and degradation.


Operating Environment: Longer lifespan is significantly extended when buried in soil, underwater, or protected by an outer layer (such as a geomembrane or concrete). Acidic, alkaline, high-temperature, and chemically corrosive environments shorten lifespan.
Product Quality: Geotextiles made from high-quality raw materials (high-purity polypropylene) and standardized production offer enhanced aging resistance and a longer lifespan.
Key measures to extend service life:
Avoid prolonged exposure to the open air. Cover with soil, gravel, or other protective layers promptly after construction.
For special environments (such as saline-alkali land and around chemical plants), use specialized polypropylene geotextiles with anti-aging agents and corrosion-resistant modifications.
During construction, avoid scratches and tears from sharp objects to minimize accelerated local aging caused by material damage.
