Iron Ore Log Washer
1.Product Introduction
The Iron Ore Washer (also known as a Rotary Trommel Scrubber) is a large-scale wet-processing system specifically engineered for iron ores with high clay content. Its core structure features an inclined, slowly rotating cylindrical drum equipped with wear-resistant liners and internal lifters. Through the synergy of mechanical attrition and high-pressure water rinsing, it effectively strips clay, silt, and other impurities from the ore surface, integrating washing, classification, and dewatering into a single operation. This equipment is capable of processing coarse iron ore with a feed size of up to 230mm, characterized by high throughput, strong adaptability, and extreme durability.
2.Application
Iron Ore Pre-treatment: Processing low-grade iron ores (e.g., for projects like SIMEC in Australia) to remove clay impurities and elevate ore grade to meet smelting requirements.
Aggregate Production: Desliming and cleaning mud-laden gravel for construction sand and concrete precast plants.
General Mineral Processing: Suitable for washing high-clay, high-viscosity ores such as manganese, phosphate, chromite, and gold.
Mining & Quarry Sites: Widely used in open-pit mines and quarries for primary washing to prevent mud balls from clogging downstream crushing and screening circuits.
3.Working Principle
Feeding & Rotation: Iron ore and high-pressure water enter from one end of the drum. The drum is driven by a motor and reducer, rotating at low speeds (typically 10–30 rpm).
Mechanical Scrubbing: Internal lifters continuously raise and drop the ore, generating intense impact and friction that disintegrates stubborn clay lumps.
Hydraulic Rinsing: High-pressure water continuously washes the ore surface, dissolving and carrying away soluble impurities. The cleaned coarse ore moves toward the discharge end via gravity and spiral guides.
Classification & Discharge: Fine mud and wastewater are discharged through drum perforations or end overflows. Cleaned ore exits from the opposite end. Some configurations pair with twin-screw washers for multi-stage cleaning, achieving overall efficiencies exceeding 98%.
