I.Overview
PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is the most widely used and highest-performing material in ultra-pure water (UPW) systems, particularly in industries with extremely stringent water quality requirements such as semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology. Its core value lies in its ability to sustain the extreme purity of ultra-pure water over the long term (resistivity ≥ 18.2 MΩ·cm, TOC ≤ 1 ppb). “In ultra-pure water systems, PVDF is the only engineering plastic that can simultaneously meet the three core requirements of ‘zero contamination leaching, high-temperature sterilization resistance, and long-term stability.’”
II.Standard Process
Raw Water → Raw Water Tank → Booster Pump → Flocculant/Reducer Dosing → Activated Carbon Filter → Ultrafiltration (UF) → Scale Inhibitor Dosing → Security Filter → 1st Stage High-Pressure Pump → 1st Stage RO → pH Adjustment → Intermediate Tank → 2nd Stage High-Pressure Pump → 2nd Stage RO → Purified Water Tank → EDI Booster Pump → UV Sterilizer → Cartridge Filter → EDI System → Ultra-Pure Water Tank → Transfer Pump → TOC Removal Unit → Polishing Resin → Final Filter → Point of Use
III.Key applications of PVDF in ultrapure water systems
Core distribution loop (main pipeline, circulation pump, and valves)
Water storage and delivery system (tank lining/pipeline, terminal filter housing)
High-temperature sterilization system (SIP (online sterilization) pipeline)
Special process connections (wafer cleaning equipment)
IV.Core Advantages of PVDF
Characteristics | Specific Performances | Impact on Ultra - pure Water Systems
Ultra - low Extractables | Extremely high chemical inertness, hardly releasing organic substances (TOC), ions (Na⁺, Cl⁻, etc.) or metal impurities (Pb, Fe, etc.) | Ensure the stability of water quality resistivity > 18.2 MΩ·cm and TOC ≤ 0.5 ppb, meeting the stringent requirements such as semiconductor wafer cleaning.
High - temperature Resistance | Long - term resistance to 140°C, short - term resistance to 150°C | Support online sterilization (SIP) with high - temperature hot water (80 - 90°C) or pure steam (121°C) to completely kill microorganisms.
Surface Smoothness | After electrolytic polishing (EP), the surface roughness Ra < 0.25 μm | Reduce the leaching of particulate matters and the adhesion of microorganisms, and prevent the formation of biofilms (biofilms are the number one pollution source in ultra - pure water systems).
Mechanical Strength | Compressive strength ≥ 50 MPa, excellent impact resistance | Suitable for high - pressure circulation systems (4 - 6 bar), reducing the detachment of microparticles caused by pipeline vibration.
Opaqueness | Naturally milky white, completely blocking light | Prevent the growth of algae and photosynthetic bacteria (ordinary PVC/PEX is prone to microorganisms due to light transmission). |

Provide water analysis report(TDS , conductivity, or resistivity, etc)
Required production capacity( 5m³/H, 50m³/H,or 500m³/H, etc)
What's the pure water used for( industrial,Food and Beverage,or agriculture, etc )
