IEC60332-3 EN50399 UL1685 Bunched Cable Vertical Flame Spread Tester for cable burning tester
Product information:
The Bunched Cable Vertical Flame Spread Tester is a professional instrument for testing the flame retardant performance of cables. It primarily complies with international standards such as IEC 60332-3-10, UL 1685, and EN 50399. It simulates the combustion behavior of vertically installed bundled cables under flame conditions, accurately evaluating key indicators such as flame spread distance, heat release rate (HRR), smoke production rate (SPR), and smoke density. This equipment is suitable for testing the fire resistance of various products, including power cables, control cables, communication cables, fiber optic cables, marine cables, and mining cables. It helps manufacturers and testing institutions ensure that cables possess excellent flame retardant and low-smoke characteristics under fire conditions, making it an essential instrument for quality control and certification in the wire and cable industry.

Standard:
IEC 60332-3-10: Tests on electric and optical fiber cables under fire conditions - Part 3-10: Test for vertical flame spread of vertically-mounted bunched wires or cables - Apparatus
UL 1685: Vertical-Tray Fire-Propagation and Smoke-Release Test for Electrical and Optical-Fiber Cables
EN 50399: Common test methods for cables under fire conditions - Heat release and smoke production measurement on cables during flame spread test - Test apparatus, procedures, results
Furthermore, this tester is generally compatible with sub-parts of the IEC 60332-3 series (such as IEC...). 60332-3-21~25, corresponding to test conditions of classes A~D).
Test Product Application:
Power cables
Control cables
Communication cables
Optical fiber cables
Optical-electric composite cables
Mining cables
Marine cables
Elevator cables
Cross-linked cables
Other bundled electrical or fiber optic insulated wires or cables
Parameter:
1. The dimensions of the stainless steel test chamber are 1,000±100(W) x 2,000±100(D) x 4,000±100(H) mm;
2. The interior surface of the chamber is lined with insulating material;
3. The lower front half of the chamber has an 800±20(W) [insulation/temperature range].
4. A 300±30 (W)×1,000±100 (D) exhaust port is provided on the top of the chamber for easy removal of flue gas during testing;
5. A flame stop tube is installed to prevent propane gas backfire, thus maximizing sample safety;
6. All control and testing conditions are automatically recorded by computer;
7. Due to the influence of temperature on gas pressure and density, an automatic compensation system for burner fuel gas and air is implemented via computer control;
8. Chamber observation window: fire-resistant glass (5mm thick);
9. Test steel ladder dimensions (vertical): 500 (W)×3,500 (H);
10. Wide steel ladder dimensions: 800 (W) ×3,500 (H);
11. Combustion surface dimensions: (L)257×(W) 4.5 mm;
12. The heat source is a strip-type propane burner torch equipped with a Venturi mixer, with a hole center distance of 3.2 mm.
