Manual Starters
Manual starters are devices operated manually, offering simple operation without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that opens or closes contacts to start or stop connected equipment. Note that these starters don't break the control circuit during power loss, potentially allowing automatic motor restart when power returns.
Key Advantages:
- Safe and economical operation
- Compact size suitable for diverse appliions
- Provides motor overload protection
- Available with various enclosure options
- Low initial cost
Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the battery to the starter motor, engaging the starter drive (Bendix gear system) with the vehicle's flywheel. The starter motor turns, cranking the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine runs independently, the starter disengages automatically.
