Manual Starters Overview
Manual starters are devices operated manually, designed for simple operation without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that controls the opening and closing of contacts to start or stop the motor. Note that these starters do not break the control circuit during power loss, which may cause automatic restart when power returns.

Starter Motor Operation
When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component directs power from the battery to the starter motor, which engages the starter drive (Bendix gear) with the vehicle's flywheel. The motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion. Once the engine is running, the starter disengages automatically.
