Application:

The 2486A990 plate-and-fin oil cooler is engineered specifically for Perkins 1104C-44T, 1104D-44T and 1106C-E70TA turbo-diesel engines (4.0–6.0 L) that power Massey Ferguson 6400-, 7400- and 8200-series tractors, Landini Legend and Rex 5 row-crop machines, JCB 4CX backhoe loaders and 540-140 telehandlers, plus FG Wilson P55-6 and Pramac GSW180P skid-mounted generator sets. It mounts directly on the oil-filter pad at the left side of the cylinder block and reduces oil temperature from 130 °C to 95 °C under sustained full-load operation, ensuring stable viscosity and prolonged engine life across agricultural, construction and standby-power sectors.

Technical specifications:

Aluminium plate-and-fin core measures 165 mm × 130 mm × 38 mm and contains 22 plates giving 0.35 m² of heat-transfer surface. Coolant flow rate is 12 L/min at 80 °C, oil flow rate 9 L/min at 120 °C, delivering a temperature drop ≥ 18 °C. Inlet/outlet ports are 3/4-16 UNF straight threads with Viton O-ring seals; mounting flange is SAE J1920 size 1 with two M10 threaded holes on 75 mm centres. Maximum working pressure is 10 bar oil side / 4 bar coolant side; burst pressure 28 bar. All sealing gaskets are FKM (Viton) for compatibility with biodiesel, synthetic and mineral oils from −45 °C to +150 °C.

The brazed-aluminium core provides high thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance; the external shell is powder-coated for salt-spray protection up to 500 h. Precision-welded internal louvred fins increase turbulence and heat-exchange efficiency by 25 % compared with conventional tube-and-fin designs. A built-in thermostatic bypass valve opens at 85 °C to shorten warm-up time and reduce cold-start wear. The unit weighs 1.4 kg, is vibration-tested to 25 g and pressure-pulse-tested to 150 000 cycles, ensuring durability in extreme field conditions.
