Product Overview
Glass Fiber Needle Felt is a non-woven fabric manufactured by needling chopped E-glass fibers (SiO₂ 52-56%, Al₂O₃ 12-16%). Fibers are short-cut to 50-90 mm lengths, carded into a web, and mechanically reinforced via high-density needle punching (thousands of barbs per m²). This process creates a 3D microporous structure with >90% porosity, enabling superior filtration, thermal insulation, and acoustic absorption.
Key Properties
- Temperature Resistance: Continuous use at 260-280°C; instantaneous tolerance up to 650-700°C (thermal shrinkage ≤3% at 650°C)
- Physical Performance: Thermal conductivity: 0.035-0.040 W/m*K (ambient); acoustic absorption rate: ≥90%; density: 110-220 kg/m³
- Chemical Safety: Resistant to acids/alkalis (except HF and concentrated H₃PO₄); non-combustible (Fire Class A1), zero toxic emissions, and SGS-certified eco-friendly
Application Fields
Industry | Applications |
Industrial Filtration | Baghouse dust filters for steel, cement, carbon black, and waste incineration plants (filtration velocity: ≤1.0 m/min) |
Thermal Insulation | Boilers, HVAC pipelines, automotive engine hood pads, household appliances (microwaves, ovens) |
Transportation | Automotive mufflers, aircraft cabin walls, ship bulkhead fireproofing |
Construction | Sandwich layers for color steel plates, timber-framed wall insulation (Fire Class A1) |

Notes:
- Weft strength ≥85% of warp strength; PTFE coating available to enhance abrasion resistance and filtration efficiency (dust capture: 99.99%)
- Customization: Thickness (2-30 mm), width (1,050-2,400 mm), and temperature resistance (e.g., 650°C instant models)
Packaging Method
To ensure integrity during transit, multi-layered protective packaging is applied:
- Roll Configuration:
- Material tightly wound onto rigid paper tubes (Ø≥7.6 cm), with edges laminated to prevent fiber shedding.
- Standard roll length: 20-40 m (adjustable by thickness); width: 1,050-2,400 mm (customizable).
- Sealed Protection:
- Inner layer: Anti-static plastic film wrap to block moisture.
- Outer layer: Reinforced woven bags or 5-ply corrugated boxes labeled "↑ Moisture-Proof, Handle with Care."
- Shipping Units:
- Individually packed rolls secured on wooden pallets (max. height: 1.2 m), stabilized with stretch film.
Storage Guidelines
Optimal conditions to extend shelf life:
- Environment:
- Temperature: 15-35°C (avoid freezing/heat exposure); humidity: 35-65% RH.
- Store in dry, ventilated warehouses away from heat sources; no outdoor stacking.
- Handling:
- Rolls placed vertically or flat on pallets; max. stacking height: 3 layers to prevent deformation.
- Isolate from chemicals (especially acidic fumes) and sharp objects.
- Shelf Life:
- 12 months in intact original packaging; use within 72 hours after unsealing.
