Designed to pair with servo drives, the 450DA offloads holding torque to its mechanical lock, so the servo only works during the index motion. This improves energy efficiency, reduces motor heat, and keeps each station rigidly positioned even when the servo is idle.
Continuous servo rotation drives the globoidal cam, which engages the flange output's needle rollers to advance the dial through one station. During dwell, the cam's flat section locks the flange mechanically, holding heavy loads without servo holding torque. This mechanical lock provides fail-safe positioning and reduces energy consumption.
