Introduction to 01 Intelligent Control 60-Frame Bipolar Open-Loop Stepper Motors (60CM30-4A / 60CM40-4A)
Both the 60CM40-4A and 60CM30-4A are bipolar open-loop stepper motors with a 60mm frame. Their core differences lie in body length, holding torque and rotor inertia. Both motors have a rated current of 4A and are compatible with the same specification of drivers, which can meet the load requirements and installation space constraints of different equipment.

II. Performance & Features
1. Shared Advantages: Large output torque, low working heat generation, strong operation stability and high product consistency. Compatible with Leadshine DM/DM2/DM5 series drivers, it supports customized requirements such as double output shafts, brake-equipped versions and waterproof designs.
2. 60CM30-4A: Featured with short body design and low rotor inertia, it is suitable for light-load and high-speed start-stop scenarios, especially for equipment with limited installation space such as small engraving machines, laser marking machines and labeling machines.
3. 60CM40-4A: Featured with long body design and high output torque, it is suitable for medium-heavy load and low-speed high-torque scenarios, such as CNC machine tool worktables, automatic production line conveyor shafts and small robotic arms that require large power output.
III. Selection Recommendations
- Prioritize selection based on holding torque: Select the 60CM30-4A for a required torque of 3.0N·m, and the 60CM40-4A for a required torque of 4.0N·m.
- Select in combination with installation space: Choose the 60CM30-4A when space is limited; choose the 60CM40-4A when installation space is sufficient and higher torque is required.
- Basic Requirements for Driver & Power Supply: The driver must support a phase current of 4A. A 24-48VDC power supply is recommended, and the constant current drive mode is adopted to ensure the stable performance and service life of the motor.
IV. Exclusive Matching Solution (Driver + Power Supply, Leadshine Original Matching)
Both motors have a bipolar rated current of 4A and a step angle of 1.8°. Leadshine universal drivers are uniformly selected (stable supply, fast delivery cycle, suitable for bulk procurement). The detailed matching solutions are differentiated only according to the differences in torque and inertia.
(I) 60CM30-4A (3.0N·m, Low Inertia, Short Body)
1. Matching Drivers: DM542 (Priority Recommendation) / DM245, both support adjustable current of 0.5-4.2A, which perfectly matches the 4A rated current of the motor.
- Alternative Solution: For higher pulse subdivision and more stable operation, the DM556 (supporting 0.1-5.6A) can be selected to reserve equipment expansion space.
2. Power Supply Solution: A 24-36VDC switching power supply with power ≥150W is recommended; for high-speed operation scenarios, it can be upgraded to 48VDC to reduce motor working heat generation.
3. Selection Boundaries:
- Load: Light load ≤2.5N·m (15%-20% torque margin reserved to avoid motor overload);
- Operation: Suitable for high-speed start-stop and high-frequency forward-reverse rotation;
- Space: Suitable for equipment with axial installation space ≤90mm.
(II) 60CM40-4A (4.0N·m, High Torque, Long Body)
1. Matching Drivers: DM542 (Full Configuration Use) / DM556. The driver current must be adjusted to 4A to fully release the 4.0N·m holding torque of the motor.
- Important Note: Avoid selecting drivers with current ≤3.5A (such as DM420), otherwise it will lead to torque attenuation and affect the stable operation of the equipment.
2. Power Supply Solution: A 36-48VDC switching power supply with power ≥200W is recommended; for medium-low speed and heavy-load scenarios, 36VDC can meet the requirement of low-heat operation.
3. Selection Boundaries:
- Load: Medium-heavy load 2.5-3.5N·m (torque margin reserved);
- Operation: Suitable for low-speed operation, constant load and high-torque output;
- Space: Axial installation space ≥105mm must be reserved (to reserve wiring and heat dissipation gaps).
