Is the pump loud ? Will idling burn if don't connect with water ?

The pump has a certain noise during working hours, about 70 decibels. The inlet pipe is made of flexible hose, and the pump is fixedly installed to reduce noise. No water idling for a long time will not damage the pump.But it is not a good idea let this pump runs dry for too long.
