Custom Cemented Carbide Tool Rods
Product Overview
Custom carbide tool rods are high-performance components made from tungsten carbide (WC) as the hard phase and cobalt (Co) as the binder phase through precision powder metallurgy. They are widely used in woodworking, metal cutting, stone processing, road milling, and composite material drilling, providing a high-strength, high-wear-resistant substrate or working part for various cutting tools.
Key Features
- Extremely High Hardness & Wear Resistance: Hardness up to HRA 88-94, wear life 5 to 20 times longer than high-speed steel (HSS)
- Excellent Transverse Rupture Strength (TRS): Typically 2000-3500 MPa, capable of withstanding high impact loads
- Good Red Hardness: Maintains high hardness and cutting performance at 800-1000°C
- Fully Customizable: Diameter, length, stepped shapes, holes, chamfers, coatings, etc., can be manufactured according to drawings
- High Dimensional Accuracy: Precision centerless or cylindrical grinding allows outer diameter tolerances as tight as ±0.002 mm

Selection Guide
- Machining hard materials (e.g., hardened steel, stone): Choose high-cobalt grades (e.g., YG10-YG15) for better impact resistance
- Extreme wear resistance (e.g., MDF, carbon fiber): Choose ultra-fine grain grades (e.g., YL10.2) with hardness ≥ HRA 92
- Dimensional fit requirements: Provide tolerances for mating holes/shafts, e.g., φ12h6 or φ10H7
- Rust prevention or reduced friction: Recommend TiAlN or diamond coating
