8-Channel Fiber Array Unit with Attached Lens Array
Integrated FAU + Lens Assembly for Efficient Optical Coupling
This 8-channel fiber array unit features an integrated lens array permanently attached to the fiber array facet. This integration eliminates the need for separate lens alignment during module assembly, significantly simplifying the optical coupling process in silicon photonic and high-speed transceiver packaging.
Key Features
Applications
- Silicon photonics edge coupling
- Coherent optical transceivers (400G/800G/1.6T)
- Optical I/O for high-performance computing (HPC)
- Fiber-to-chip coupling for PIC packaging
- LiDAR and optical sensing systems
How It Works
Traditional fiber-to-chip coupling requires separate alignment of fibers and lenses. This integrated FAU with lens array combines both into a single, pre-aligned assembly. The lens array focuses the optical signal from each fiber to the corresponding waveguide on the photonic integrated circuit (PIC), maximizing coupling efficiency while minimizing assembly complexity.
