It is also highly resistant to acidic and alkaline solutions, pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments, atmospheric corrosion, and aqueous corrosion. Its austenitic structure maintains excellent strength and oxidation resistance at high temperatures. The addition of Ti also helps F316Ti maintain high-temperature strength and good low-temperature toughness at low temperatures, preventing brittleness. While more difficult to machine than carbon steel, F316Ti remains one of the most machinable stainless steels.
