AISI304 316L Stainless Steel Hypodermic Tubing , Medical Capillary Needle Tube ISO9626
Medical grade stainless steel capillary tubes are cold drawn, high-precision thin-walled tubes, which are usually used for the production of hypodermic needle tubes. Medical capillary tubes are usually welded from AISI 304 highly corrosion-resistant stainless steel strips, and then these tubes are cold drawn, annealed, polished, cleaned, straightened, cut into the fixed length. After cleaned and inspected for several times, capillary tubes can be grinded into different tips by machines and formed into medical needle tubes. Our stainless steel medical capillary tubes are all complied with ISO9626 international standard with strict size tolerance, smooth inner/outer surface and good cleanliness. So they are suitable for medical devices like hypodermic needles, catheters, surgical instruments, etc.. The hypodermic tubing can be in straight type or coiled type and it can be processed into different tube ends based on clients’ drawings or samples. The primary function of medical capillary tubes is to transport fluids/medication (liquids or gases) within the human body and in medical or laboratory instruments that demand great cleanliness, dimensional accuracy and high corrosion resistance.
Key Manufacturing Stages:
- Welding: The capillary tubes are firstly welded by stainless steel 304 strips by the laser-welding machine.
- Cold Drawing: Stainless steel tubes are cold drawn through progressively smaller dies and over mandrels to achieve the precise final required dimensions and improved mechanical properties (e.g., strength, hardness).
- Annealing: Performed in a controlled atmosphere(often full of hydrogen) at a specific temperature after cold work.
- Precision Cutting: Cutting into exact lengths
- Rigorous Cleaning And Packaging: Ultrasonic cleaning and packaging in controlled, particle-free environments (e.g., class 100,000 clean rooms).
AISI 304 Vs AISI 316L Raw Material:
- AISI304 is suitable for shorter-term or less corrosive applications, e.g., medical needles(hypodermic needles, injection needles, infusion needles, etc.), external precision instrument components.
- AISI316L is a good choice for applications requiring long-time contact with the human body (e.g., implants, indwelling catheters) or exposing to some aggressive environments (e.g., chloride-containing solutions) due to its superior corrosion resistance due to its enhanced molybdenum.
