​ASTM B338 Grade 7 Titanium Alloy Pipes And Tubes For Condensers And Heat Exchangers

What is Grade 7 titanium?

Titanium Grade 7 is mechanically and physically equivalent to Titanium Grade 2, with the exception of additional interstitial palladium which makes this material alloy. Grade 7 demonstrates excellent weldability, fabricability, and is the most corrosion resistance of all titanium alloys.

ASTM B338 Grade 7 titanium alloy pipe is a high-performance corrosion-resistant material based on industrial pure titanium (Ti) with trace amounts of palladium (Pd) added, which meets the specifications for Grade 7 in the ASTM B338 standard. Its typical composition is Ti-0.15%Pd, which combines the excellent machinability of industrial pure titanium with the significantly improved corrosion resistance given by the palladium element.

This alloy pipe performs well in harsh environments (such as high-temperature dilute hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and strong chloride media), especially in terms of crevice corrosion and pitting corrosion resistance, which far exceeds ordinary pure titanium (such as Gr.2). It has a wide operating temperature range (-196°C to +300°C), low density, high strength-to-weight ratio and good weldability, and is widely used in corrosion-resistant piping systems in chemical, marine engineering, power desulfurization systems and pharmaceutical equipment.
