Product Description

316L stainless steel pipe, sometimes referred to as A4 stainless steel or marine grade stainless steel, is the second most common austenitic stainless steel pipe after 304/A2 stainless steel. Its primary alloying constituents after iron are chromium (between 16-18%), nickel (10-12%), and molybdenum (2-3%), with small quantities of silicon, phosphorus & sulfur also present.
The addition of molybdenum provides greater corrosion resistance than 304, with respect to localized corrosive attack by chlorides and to general corrosion by reducing acids, such as sulfuric acid. 316L grade is the low carbon version of 316 stainless steel. When cold worked, 316 can produce high yield and tensile strengths similar to Duplex stainless grades.
It is commonly used in the chemical and petrochemical industry, in food processing, pharmaceutical equipment, medical devices, potable water, wastewater treatment, marine applications, and architectural applications near the seashore or in urban areas.

Properties of 316L Stainless Steel Pipe
Excellent Corrosion Resistance
Performs well in various corrosive media such as organic acids, inorganic acids, alkalis, and salts, especially has excellent resistance to chloride corrosion. Compared with 304 stainless steel, it has better corrosion resistance in marine environments and chemical industry applications.
Good Heat Resistance
Has good oxidation resistance when used intermittently below 1600 degrees and continuously below 1700 degrees. Resistance to carbide precipitation is better than 316 stainless steel and can adapt to various temperature ranges.
Excellent Welding Performance
Suitable for all standard welding methods. When welding, 316CB, 316L or 309CB stainless steel filler rods or welding rods can be used. If 316L stainless steel is used, no post-weld annealing is required after welding.
Moderate Mechanical Properties
Has certain strength and hardness, good toughness and ductility, and is light in weight when the bending and torsional strengths are the same. Widely used in mechanical parts and engineering structures.
Good Work Hardening
Has weak magnetism after processing. Non-magnetic in the solid solution state.
Hygiene and Environmental Protection
Surface is smooth, not easy to breed bacteria, easy to clean and disinfect, and meets the requirements of food, medicine and other industries for high hygiene occasions.
