Product Description

2A12 aluminum plate is a 2 series Al-Cu alloy, which mainly contains the alloy component Cu, and belongs to the heat-treated alloy plate. Therefore, the 2A12 aluminum alloy strengthened by heat treatment has high strength. In addition, 2A12 aluminum plate has excellent machinability and good spot welding property. But when gas welding and argon arc welding, there is a tendency to form intergranular cracks. And the corrosion resistance is not high, need to carry out surface treatment or aluminum coating to improve its corrosion resistance.

In conventional applications, 2A12 aluminum plate is mainly used in molds, traffic vehicles, compressors, rivets, truck hubs, screw elements and other structural parts. In aircraft manufacturing, 2A12 aluminum plate is mainly used for skeleton parts, skin, diaphragm, wing ribs, wing spars, rivets and other parts working below 150 ℃.

Difference between 2A12 Aluminum Plate and 6061 Aluminum Plate

2A12 aluminum plate and 6061 aluminum plate both are heat-treatable aluminum alloys.

2A12 aluminum plate belong to 2xxx alloy, a kind of Al-Cu-Mg alloy. 6061 aluminum plate belongs to 6xxx alloy, having higher silicon content.

2A12 aluminum plate hardness can reach around 120HB, while the hardness of 6061 is 90HB after heat treatment.

2A12 aluminum plate has high strength, qualified plasticity and poor corrosion resistance. It is mostly used in the state of clad aluminum plate, which is the most widely used duralumin in the aviation industry. 6061 aluminium plate has good corrosion resistance, weldability and workability. Its machinability makes it the right choice for many extrusion projects because it is easy to shape. Because of good corrosion resistance, it is not only widely used in aviation industry, but also for shipbuilding.
