100–450mm Open Type Casting Steel Roller Fairlead with Foundation for Ship Mooring
Product Overview
Open type casting steel roller fairlead is designed for guiding mooring ropes at the deck edge with flexible rope entry.
The structure allows multiple rollers mounted on a base without top plate, suitable for side mooring and complex rope lead angles.
This model focuses on structural strength, load transfer reliability and long-term durability, and is different from SWL-certified engineering fairlead selection models.

Engineering Design Logic
Calculation load is taken as 2 times the rope breaking load to ensure fairlead integrity even if rope fails.
Load transfer path: Roller → Bush → Pin Shaft → Foundation.
Pin shaft is the primary load-bearing component subjected to bending moment from rope tension.
Structural Optimization
Pin shaft extends into foundation for better load transfer and strength.
Increased shaft diameter improves strength and rope life by increasing D/d ratio.
Optimized clearance between shaft and bush ensures lubrication and smooth rotation.
Structure
1 Countersunk Screw | 2 Roller Cover | 3 Washer | 4 Bush | 5 Pin Shaft | 6 Roller Body | 7 Set Screw | 8 Nut | 9 Set Screw | 10 Grease Cup | 11 Thread Sleeve | 12 Plug
Quality Control
Casting parts shall be free from defects such as cracks, shrinkage and inclusions.
Rope contact surfaces must be ground smooth.
Rotating parts must operate flexibly.
Selection Guide
Step 1 – Select roller diameter → Based on rope size
Step 2 – Confirm rope type → Wire / fiber
Step 3 – Confirm load requirement → Refer SWL
Step 4 – Confirm installation position
Step 5 – Confirm certification requirement

FAQ
Q1: What is Open Type Fairlead?
A: Open type fairlead refers to a structure without a top plate above the rollers. Two, three or four rollers are mounted on a foundation base, and the upper side remains open for flexible rope entry.
Closed type fairlead includes a top plate restricting rope movement (e.g. JIS F2014 Type B and D).
Q2: Why Open Type Design?
A: Flexible rope entry from outside deck; suitable for multi-direction mooring; modular roller arrangement.
Q3: What is function of Foundation Height?
A: Foundation height is used to adjust rope lead angle, reduce bending stress, avoid deck contact and minimize rope wear.
Q4: Why is pin shaft critical?
A: It bears bending load from rope tension and determines structural safety.
Q5: Why is 2× breaking load used?
A: To ensure fairlead remains intact even if rope fails.
Q6: How to improve rope life?
A: Increase D/d ratio and ensure smooth roller surface.
