The Top Discharge Centrifuge is designed for the batch dewatering of filterable precipitates generated during industrial wastewater treatment.
It is suitable for small-volume or intermittent treatment systems where chemical precipitation produces solids such as metal hydroxides, carbonates, phosphates, fluorides, neutralization sludge, or other inorganic treatment residues. The centrifuge separates the liquid from the precipitated solids, forms a filter cake inside the basket, reduces retained liquid through spin drying, and allows manual removal of the cake through the top opening.
This solution is particularly suitable for wastewater treatment projects where sludge production is not continuous, the batch size is limited, or operators need to inspect the cake condition before disposal, recovery, stabilization, or further treatment.
For small wastewater treatment volumes, a fully continuous sludge dewatering system may be unnecessary or uneconomical.
The Top Discharge Centrifuge provides a practical solution when the project requires:
The open top-discharge design also makes it easier to inspect the retained solids, check whether the cake is stable, and clean the basket after each batch.
Peony provides the batch separation section between wastewater treatment and downstream sludge handling.
A typical arrangement is:
Wastewater Treatment Tank → Chemical Dosing / Flocculation → Sludge Buffer Tank → Top Discharge Centrifuge → Filtrate Collection → Dewatered Cake Collection → Disposal / Recovery / Drying / Further Treatment
The wastewater first undergoes chemical reaction, neutralization, precipitation, or flocculation. Once the solids are concentrated enough to form a filterable cake, the slurry is fed into the centrifuge.
Inside the basket, the liquid passes through the filter medium while the precipitate is retained. After optional washing and spin drying, the machine stops and the dewatered cake is manually removed through the top opening.
Peony can support the complete separation section, including:
Wastewater precipitate slurry enters the rotating basket after chemical treatment, settling, thickening, or flocculation.
Liquid passes through the filter medium and is collected through the filtrate outlet.
Chemical precipitates remain inside the basket while the separated liquid is discharged.
The retained solids gradually form a filter cake on the inner surface of the basket.
Wash liquid can be applied when required to reduce residual soluble salts, treatment chemicals, or process liquor retained in the cake.
The basket continues rotating to remove free liquid from the precipitate cake and reduce moisture before discharge.
After the programmed batch cycle is complete, the basket stops and the top cover is opened.
Operators remove the dewatered cake for disposal, stabilization, recovery, drying, laboratory analysis, or further treatment.

The centrifuge is designed for batch operation and is suitable for wastewater systems that generate sludge periodically rather than continuously.
By removing free liquid from the precipitate cake, the centrifuge can reduce the total sludge volume that must be transported, stored, treated, or disposed of.
Filter media can be selected based on the actual particle size, floc size, filtrate clarity requirement, and cake permeability.
Operators can inspect the precipitate cake after each cycle to assess texture, moisture, floc strength, and overall dewatering performance.
The centrifuge can be connected with chemical dosing tanks, flocculation tanks, sludge buffer tanks, filtrate collection tanks, and downstream disposal or recovery systems.
The final equipment configuration can be selected according to wastewater chemistry, corrosion condition, solids properties, and local safety requirements.
Typical options include:
To recommend a suitable Top Discharge Centrifuge, please provide:
Yes, when the wastewater sludge is conditioned or filterable enough to form a stable cake in the basket. It is most suitable for small-batch and intermittent treatment systems.
It can be suitable for filterable metal hydroxide and neutralization precipitates. Very fine, gel-like, or highly compressible sludge may require pre-treatment or another separation method.
In many cases, yes. Flocculation or conditioning can improve particle size, cake permeability, filtrate clarity, and dewatering performance.
The filtrate can be collected for recycle, polishing treatment, further recovery, or discharge, depending on the wastewater quality and overall process requirements.
Yes. The cake can be collected for disposal, stabilization, drying, metal recovery, or further treatment. The final disposal route should follow the applicable environmental and waste-handling requirements.
