Single-Level Light Duty Direct Shear Tester Easy To Carry For The Field Test
Equipment Overview
Single-lever light duty direct shear tester designed for determining soil shear strength, angle of internal friction, and cohesion. The instrument features a tracking device to ensure output accuracy. Easy to carry for field testing, and capable of performing flooding shear tests.
Operation Procedure
- Remove the instrument case and four-week plugs, place the instrument on the platform, adjust the column screw to ensure stability and tighten the cap
- Loosen hexagonal bolts on the beam and tighten the frame to ensure basic stability of the framework and leverage
- Check both sides of the lever and hanging ring for friction, ensure rolling bearings are flexible, adjust counterweight for basic balance, and tighten balance between hammer and cap
- Cut box, check rolling balls for flexibility, place soil sample, position permeable stone, align pressure screw with ball center
- Rotate hand wheel until box touches the ring, set dial indicators to zero, adjust pressure screw and leverage height
- Apply vertical load according to project requirements, tighten screw bolt, and rotate hand wheel for even-speed cutting while monitoring dial indicator readings
- After shear completion, remove shear and vertical loads, recover equipment
Maintenance & Precautions
- After experiments, clean shear box and apply thin layer of anti-rust oil
- Calibrate internal ring every six months or based on usage
- Clean lever bearings every six months and apply grease for smooth sliding
