Product Overview
AvaSpire® PAEK is a customized aromatic polyketone developed by Solvay to fill the cost and performance gap between PEEK (polyetheretherketone) and other high-performance polymers. Based on different resin melt flow rates, this series of products is divided into three product families: AV-600, AV-400 and AV-700, including pure resin grade, glass fiber (GF) and carbon fiber (CF) reinforced grade, and wear-resistant SL grade.
Industry Applications
Medical Field: AvaSpire® PAEK 600 series products have been successfully used in reusable sterilized surgical instruments and equipment due to high mechanical properties, strong chemical resistance to sterilization media, and excellent cleanliness and inertness. Compliant with ISO 10993 standard, it serves as a viable substitute for stainless steel.
Automotive Field: All three AvaSpire® PAEK series are suitable for automotive engine compartment and powertrain applications, withstanding various automotive fluids at temperatures up to 150°C. AV-750 GF40 is used for structural components, wear-resistant SL series for sealing rings, bushings and bearings, and 400 series for injection molded thin-walled structural components.
Aerospace Field: AvaSpire® PAEK products offer fatigue and creep resistance, chemical resistance, and excellent heat and humidity properties, making them ideal for light to medium-load structural applications in aerospace. Their superior flame, smoke and toxicity properties are key factors for aerospace applications.
Oil and Gas Field: AvaSpire® PAEK serves as sealing components in compressors within the oil and gas industry. In the 150°C-190°C temperature range, it demonstrates better mechanical and temperature properties than PEEK, along with high toughness and chemical resistance.

- Excellent mechanical properties: AvaSpire® AV-652 shows 10-15% higher strength and stiffness, 20-30% higher impact resistance, and higher elastic modulus between room temperature and 200°C compared to standard 30% glass fiber filled PEEK.
- Good thermal stability: Maintains performance at high temperatures, with some grades retaining better stiffness than PEEK in the 150°C-190°C range. Materials maintain elastic-plastic properties at 170°C.
- Excellent chemical resistance: Withstands various industrial chemicals including acids, alkalis and most organic solvents, with excellent hydrolytic stability for long-term use in hot water and steam environments.
- Excellent processing performance: Nominal melt viscosity between high-flow injection molding grade and low-flow 30% glass fiber reinforced PEEK extruded plastic grade. Low absolute crystallinity, low molding shrinkage, and minimal warping meet strict tolerance requirements.
- Good flame retardant: PAEK is inherently flame retardant, with AvaSpire® PAEK resins and compounds achieving UL-94 V0 or V1 ratings at 0.8 mm thickness without flame retardant additives.
