Lutetium Acetate Hydrate (Lu(CH₃COO)₃·4H₂O): Chemical Additive, Reaction Catalyst, Growth Promoter

Lutetium acetate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Lu(C₂H₃O₂)₃·4H₂O. It appears as white crystals, soluble in water (approximately 25g of hydrate dissolves in 100mL water at 18°C) and benzene. When heated to 760°C, it decomposes into lutetium oxide.

About Lutetium Acetate Hydrate

Dissolve an appropriate amount of lutetium oxide in a 50% acetic acid solution using a steam bath for heating. Typically, the lutetium oxide will completely dissolve. If a small amount of oxide residue remains at the bottom of the container, filtration is required. Transfer the clear solution to a 75°C water bath to evaporate most of the solvent. After cooling, crystals will precipitate. Collect the crystals by filtration and place them in a vacuum desiccator containing granular sodium hydroxide and magnesium perchlorate. Dry under vacuum to obtain hydrated lutetium acetate.
