Praseodymium Acetate Hydrate (Pr(CH₃COO)₃·4H₂O): Chemical Additive, Reaction Catalyst, Growth Promoter

Praseodymium acetate is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Pr(C₂H₃O₂)₃·4H₂O, appearing as green crystals. It is soluble in water, with about 25g of the hydrate dissolving in 100mL of water at 18°C. It is also soluble in benzene. When heated to 760°C, it decomposes to form praseodymium oxide.

About Praseodymium Acetate Hydrate:
Dissolve an appropriate amount of praseodymium oxide in a 50% acetic acid solution and heat using a steam bath. Typically, the praseodymium oxide will dissolve completely. If any oxide residue remains at the bottom of the container, filter the solution. Transfer the clear solution to a 75°C water bath to evaporate most of the solvent. Allow the solution to cool, during which crystals will form. Collect the crystals by filtration and place them in a vacuum desiccator containing granular sodium hydroxide and magnesium perchlorate. Dry under vacuum to obtain hydrated praseodymium acetate.
