Key Process Parameters and Quality Control Points
Coating amount: Refers to the weight of PE coated per unit area, usually in grams per square meter. This is one of the most important technical indicators.
  • Insufficient coating amount: It can lead to a decrease in leak prevention performance and easy leakage.
  • Excessive coating amount: Not only does it waste materials and increase costs, but it may also cause the paper cup to become soft (reduce stiffness), and there may be quality problems during curling and cup bottom forming.
  • Typical range: Single sided coating is usually between 12-22 gsm, with higher requirements for hot beverage cups.
Adhesion: Measures the bonding strength between the PE layer and the paper. Poor adhesion can lead to the phenomenon of "delamination", where the PE film peels off from the paper cup during processing or use. Good corona treatment is a prerequisite for ensuring adhesion.
Uniformity: The PE layer must have a uniform thickness, without any "stripes", "omissions", or "material accumulation". This relies on precise die design, installation, and stable production processes.
