Product Parameters
Grade Classification: This standard classifies steel into four grades based on tensile strength, arranged from lowest to highest:

Basic Characteristics
Composition and Properties: This is a non-alloyed carbon-manganese steel. Its chemical composition requirements are relatively lenient; the core focus is on ensuring mechanical properties. Its strength range covers the low to medium requirements from ordinary structures to general pressure vessel applications.
Manufacturing Process: Primarily produced through hot rolling, with a hot-rolled oxide scale on the surface.
Core Advantages
- Excellent Formability: Ideal for cold working such as stamping, rolling, and bending, and less prone to cracking.
- Excellent Weldability: Low carbon equivalent, requiring no complex preheating or post-heating processes; conventional welding methods are sufficient.
- Low Cost: Due to its simple composition, it is one of the most economical steel plates according to ASTM standards.
Limitations
- Limited strength: The maximum tensile strength is approximately 400-485 MPa, making it unsuitable for heavy-load or high-stress structures.
- Poor corrosion resistance: As a non-alloy carbon steel, it requires protective coating.
- Moderate impact toughness: Standards do not specify Charpy impact test requirements; therefore, it is not recommended for use in low-temperature or critical structures subjected to impact loads.
