Product Overview

The Pilz PNOZ m B0 (part number 772100) is a configurable, modular safety controller from the PNOZmulti 2 series. Unlike traditional safety relays that perform only fixed functions, this device is a small, programmable safety PLC designed to replace multiple standard safety relays with a single, intelligent unit.

The PNOZ m B0 serves as the "base unit" of the PNOZmulti system, processing safety signals from various devices including:

  • Emergency stop pushbuttons
  • Safety gate limit switches
  • Light beam devices and safety scanners
  • Two-hand pushbuttons and enabling switches
  • Operating mode selector switches
The device allows you to create safety circuits using software on a PC, configuring up to 14 different safety functions per unit. It meets the highest safety integrity levels, up to EN ISO 13849-1 PL e (Safety Category 4) and EN/IEC 62061 SIL CL 3.

  • Modular and Expandable: As a base unit, it supports connection of up to 6 expansion modules (inputs, outputs, or relays) and 1 link or communication module for fieldbus connectivity.

  • Flexible I/O Configuration: Provides 20 digital inputs (up to 8 can be configured as standard outputs) and 4 safe semiconductor outputs (up to PL e / SIL CL 3).
  • Test Pulse Outputs: The semiconductor outputs can be configured either as standard outputs or as test pulses for monitoring input circuits for shorts and cross faults.
  • Exchangeable Program Memory: The base unit uses an exchangeable program memory, making it easy to transfer configurations to replacement units without reprogramming.
  • Dual Power Supply: Separately powered: one supply for the system logic (U1) and one for the semiconductor outputs (U2), providing potential isolation.
