FMVSS 302 Automotive Interiors Honzontal Flammability Tester
Product Introduce
The FMVSS 302 Automotive Interior Flammability Tester is a high-precision testing instrument designed to evaluate the flame resistance of materials used in vehicle interiors, complying with international standards such as FMVSS 302, ISO 3795, ASTM D5132, SAE J369, and GB 8410. This equipment is essential for testing a wide range of automotive interior components, including seat cushions, safety belts, headrests, dashboards, floor coverings, and airbags, ensuring they meet stringent fire safety requirements. With a sample size of 102 mm × 356 mm and a maximum thickness of 13 mm, it accurately measures horizontal burning rates to minimize fire risks in vehicles. Ideal for manufacturers and testing labs, this FMVSS 302 Flammability Tester ensures compliance with global automotive safety standards, offering reliable and efficient flame resistance testing for enhanced vehicle safety.
Standard
FMVSS 302:Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 302; Flammability of interior materials
ISO 3795: Determination of burning behavior of interior materials for road vehicles, tractors, and machinery
ASTM D5132: Standard test method for horizontal burning characteristics of automotive interior materials
SAE J369: Flammability of polymeric interior materials
GB 8410: Chinese national standard for combustion characteristics of automotive interior materials
Application
FMVSS 302 applies to organic materials used in passenger compartments and driver cabins, including but not limited to:
Seat cushions
Seat backs
Seat covers
Safety belts
Headrests
Armrests
Convertible tops
Decorative panels
Sun visors
Floor coverings
Curtains
Dashboards
Glove compartments
Wheel well covers
Airbags
Compartment shelves
Mattress covers
Test samples, whether single or composite materials, are tested at their actual thickness, up to 13 mm (if thicker, cut to 13 mm). Sample size is 102 mm × 356 mm, with at least 5 samples per material. If burning rates vary by direction, at least 5 samples per direction are required.
Main parameter
1. The combustion test chamber is constructed entirely of stainless steel with a 2mm thick wall, which resists deformation after combustion.
2. The chamber bottom features ten 19mm ventilation holes and 13mm wide ventilation slots around the perimeter.
3. The chamber is equipped with a Bunsen burner with a 9.5mm inner diameter nozzle and an adjustable flame height of 38mm.
4. The chamber is equipped with a transparent tempered glass observation window for easy observation by the tester.
5. A collection tray is provided at the bottom of the chamber to collect molten drips.
6. The U-shaped stainless steel specimen clamp can be inserted from the right side of the chamber.
7. The instrument automatically starts timing after the U-shaped stainless steel specimen clamp is inserted.
8. The combustion flame automatically shuts off 15 seconds after the test begins.
9. A needle valve and ball valve are provided for adjusting and shutting off the gas.
10. An optional stainless steel specimen clamp with heat-resistant wire is available for use with flexible fabrics.
