Q: How to check if the silicone fluid in the fan clutch is sufficient?
A: Since fan clutches are typically sealed assemblies, fluid level cannot be checked directly. However, indirect methods can be used: when the engine is cold, manually rotate the fan blades; there should be noticeable resistance but some rotation possible. If resistance is too low (too free-spinning) or completely seized, fluid may be low or leaking. Additionally, inspect the clutch housing for oil stains, especially around the shaft seal; significant oil residue indicates leakage and probable low fluid.

Q: After replacing the fan clutch, the engine temperature rises instead. What could be the reason?
A: Possible reasons for temperature rise after replacement include: defective new clutch failing to engage properly; air entering the system during installation causing air locks; concurrent faults in related components like water pump or thermostat; incorrect belt tension causing slippage; use of incompatible parts with insufficient cooling capacity. A systematic check of the cooling system is recommended to ensure no air locks, proper belt tension, and verify new clutch function.

Q: Is slow engine water temperature rise in winter related to the fan clutch?
A: It may be—if the clutch runs constantly (stuck valve or sensor misjudgment), it keeps cooling the engine, slowing temp rise. If the clutch disengages normally, the issue is likely a faulty thermostat. Inspect the clutch first, then troubleshoot other parts. Constant clutch operation wastes heat needed for temp rise.
