Q: How to determine if the clutch is working properly by observing changes in fan speed?
A: Observing fan speed changes is an important method to judge clutch operation status. During cold starts, the fan should operate at low speed with minimal audible airflow noise. As engine temperature gradually rises to normal operating temperature (approx. 85-95°C), a noticeable increase in fan speed should be heard, accompanied by visible acceleration of blade rotation. When air conditioning is activated, speed should immediately increase responsively. During highway driving, speed should decrease as vehicle speed increases. This speed variation with temperature and usage conditions indicates normal clutch function.

Q: Why is road testing verification necessary after fan clutch repair?
A: Road testing verification is a critical step to ensure repair quality. Static tests cannot fully simulate various conditions during actual driving. Road testing can verify: temperature stability at different speeds (city roads, highways); heat dissipation capability under heavy loads like climbing or acceleration; cooling effectiveness with A/C on full; whether fan speed changes reasonably under various conditions; any abnormal noises or vibrations. Only through actual road testing can the proper operation of the fan clutch and related systems be comprehensively confirmed.

Q: Can a truck fan clutch’s "drive belt" with slip marks still be used?
A: No—it can’t be used. Slip marks mean the belt is worn (reduced friction). Continuing use causes insufficient fan speed (engine overheating) and eventual belt breakage. Replace the belt with the same model immediately and check if the pulley is worn (repair if needed). Using a worn belt risks sudden cooling failure and engine damage.
