Manual Starters Overview

Manual starters are simple, user-friendly devices operated manually without requiring expert intervention. They feature a button or rotary knob that controls the connected equipment through mechanical linkages that open or close contacts to start/stop the motor.

Starter Motor Operation

When the engine is activated (via stop/start button or key), an electrical signal is sent to the starter solenoid. This component transfers power from the battery to the starter motor, which activates the starter drive (Bendix gear system) to engage the vehicle's flywheel.

The starter motor cranks the engine to initiate combustion in petrol/diesel engines. Once the engine is running, the mechanism disengages the starter motor from the flywheel as the engine no longer requires the electrical spark.
