The portable EV charger comes in a nice carrying case that provides room for the whole unit. The unit itself has a thick plastic casing. Unlike some other EVSE you’ve used, the cord is very flexible which is great for packing and cable management. The cord is also a healthy length, which provides plenty of slack. As mentioned above, the EVSE also has 120 volt plug adapter, making it possible to still use the unit as a level 1 charging setup when a 240 volt outlet isn’t available for level 2 charging. The main unit and J1772 “gun” are weather proof (IP54 is enough to make sure the safety. but the 120 volt adapter is not: so while you can use level 2 charging indoors and outdoors, level 1 charging should be done indoors, or at least in a outdoors situation where the adapter will be covered, like a car port. This EVSE is not a so-called smart charger but it still offers a back-lit LCD screen on the main unit that feeds you pertinent information: a timer, voltage, amperage, kw rate, the amount of kWh charged so far, and a temperature gauge. It’s a nice addition to have for EV owners whose cars don’t provide a comprehensive break down of charging sessions.
