White powder or flakes. Melting point 168℃. Soluble in water and common organic solvents such as ethanol and aceton. It can be obtained by first obtaining benzenetricarboxylic acid from pseudocumene (mainly 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene) in the carbon nine fraction of aromatic hydrocarbons such as coal tar fraction, cracked gasoline and catalytic reforming gasoline through liquid phase nitric acid oxidation and air oxidation using cobalt or manganese catalysts, and then dehydrating it.
